Sustainable development and governance

The research unit examines the interaction between global development and governance. This includes what changes are required across social, economic and environmental domains in order to create sustainable development.

The potential of creating sustainable development is linked to policies, as well as the norms and rules we operate in accordance with - both within countries and across borders. Governance, therefore, is a key focus of the unit’s research.

Among other things, researchers work with access to natural resources, adaptation to climate change and global development work. What happens when, for example, foreign companies invest in Africa’s natural resources? How do governments and organisations respond to climate change in Africa and Asia? And how do the world’s countries address global challenges such as climate change, pandemics and economic crises?
