Book launch - Will China Rule the World?
Watch the recording here
The COVID-19 pandemic is far from over, but many argue that it has already reshaped the global order. Unlike the United States, the European Union, and India, China managed to contain the spread of the coronavirus at home and grow its economy at an impressive rate. This both accelerates China’s rise as the world’s largest economy and expands its influence in world affairs.
But are we heading to a future with China in charge? How is the United States under President Joseph Biden reshaping its foreign policy with its democracy under strain at home? Will new partnerships between India and the European Union temper US-China strategic competition? This webinar brings together international experts on China, the United States, India, and the European Union, to discuss the present and future of geopolitics.
This webinar both launches the new book How China Loses: The Pushback Against Chinese Global Ambitions (Oxford University Press, 2021) and a new DIIS event series, Asia Talks, which focuses on how Asia’s elevated role in world affairs impacts Europe’s economic welfare and foreign and security policy.
