China is an essential player in global issues ranging from pandemics and climate change to artificial intelligence and biotechnology. But at the same time China's relationship with the United States, and the West at large, has become more competitive and adversarial, particularly when it comes to advanced technologies such as semiconductors. The room for cooperation between the world's two largest economies feels like it is becoming narrower and narrower as the ecological and technological challenges facing the world become larger and larger.
This seminar will explore the broad question of how the US and China can find a stable balance between competition and cooperation on global issues of sustainability and technology. Dr. Scott Moore of the University of Pennsylvania will give a talk on his new book, China's Next Act. The seminar will then focus in on the US-China tech war and the critical issue of semiconductors with Danish and international experts.
Scott Moore, Director of China Programs and Strategic Initiatives and Practice Professor of Political Science, PennGlobal, University of Pennsylvania
Dr. Moore will discuss his new book China's Next Act: How Sustainability and Technology are Reshaping China's Rise and the World's Future.
