DIIS Book

Danish foreign policy review 2024

The Review covers key topics relevant to Danish foreign, security, and development policy

In the 2024 edition the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, and Minister of Defence, Troels Lund Poulsen, give their thoughts on Danish foreign policy. This is followed by four, peer-reviewed, scholarly articles written by experts in their fields.

Legal Scholars from the University of Copenhagen, Marc Schack and Astrid Kjeldgaard-Pedersen, delve into the legal aspects of supporting Ukraine in its war against an invading Russia.

Historian Juhana Aunesluoma from the University of Helsinki examines the long road taken by Finland and Sweden to join NATO.

DIIS Senior Researchers, Lars Engberg-Pedersen and Rasmus Hundsbæk Pedersen, look into the idea of pragmatic idealism in Danish development policy.

And Henrik Larsen, from the Department of Political Science at the University of Copenhagen, questions the continued relevance of discussing foreign policy activism.
