Der har været stigende opmærksomhed om EU’s udenrigspolitik efter Lissabon-traktaten, med en ambition om ét Europa, der taler med én stemme, hvad angår udenrigs- og sikkerhedspolitik. Men den seneste udvikling både i landene omkring EU og med Trump som amerikansk præsident viser, at koordineringen af udenrigspolitikkens ikke kun har potentiale, men også begrænsninger.
